Triglav National Park
We wanted to visit Triglav National Park in the Julian Alps near Bled, but realized we couldn't utilize public transportation, so we booked an all day van tour. There were 5 of us on the tour, all women ranging in ages 20 something to us. The guide/driver was a young Slovenian gal who was passionate about the Julian Alps. Triglav Mountain is the highest peak in Slovenia at 9,396 feet. The Julian Alps are named after Julius Caesar. We rode short distances, stopped to hike, take pictures and eat. The tour exceeded our expectations!

Slap (waterfall) Pericnik. This is the lower of two falls at 52 ft. The trail up was quite steep with lots of tree roots & switchbacks. We were able to do a walking loop by going behind the falls & out the other side.

On the other side of the falls. That whitish area to Linda's right is the trail!! Beautiful scenery…scary trail.

We made several scenery stops and learned names of some of the mountains. There are lots of bicycle paths. Wishing we had bikes!

We crossed into Italy and stopped for a walk & pastry. Austria was close by and we were back in Slovenia in a few kilometers!

Can't believe it appears our feet are not in water! It was so cold, chills ran up our legs. Have to say, we've never seen water running this clear! It's like this pretty much everywhere.

This is the Soca River Gorge. The color of the water was amazing, spectacular colors and clarity.

Kayaking on the Soca River. Some folks were actually wading in it. It's soooo cold! Again, the water is impressively clear.

Standing on the edge of an alpine meadow looking out over the Alps. The Larch tree in the background is a conifer but it turns brilliant yellow in the fall & drops its needles like a deciduous tree.

Ticarjev dom at Vrsic Pass (won't even try to pronounce this). This a mountain hut. It offers a bar, restaurant, showers, beds with linen and shared bathrooms. Vrsic Pass is the highest in Slovenia at 1611 meters. There are 50 hairpin curves that are signed with curve number and elevation, 25 up and 25 down. It was a very popular motorcycle route.
