We went for a walk after arriving from Villach. Thought we were watching the Tour-De-France. This race was the Tour-de-Dolomites. Two categories, 112k (67mi) & 228k (137mi)! The riders are animals ))::

Lienz was another pedestrian & bike friendly town. Shops and cafes lined the cobblestone walkways in the aldstadt (old town).

This Rolls Royce was part of the Silver Ghost Register Alpine Tour-Classic. 25 cars started in Vienna or Salzburg. This owner & his wife we're very much hoping to have "no failures to proceed" (breakdowns). Amazing they were able to traverse the steep, windy roads! This couple was very happy to chat.

We rented bikes and spent the day riding the Iseltal trail along the Isel River, 20 miles up the valley to the small village of Matrei. The signage was good.

We enjoyed views like this all day.

The path here was between the road & river but comfortable ride with a wide sidewalk and little traffic.

Crossing the Isel River. It's 20 miles up the valley to Matrei. This path is a paved route with a couple miles at either end thru city traffic. We crossed several bridges & passed many farms, small towns & lots of log yards where the raw logs are brought to sort & store.

This is a bike and pedestrian path under the rail yard and train tracks. It's wider than some of of roads! There are stairs & an elevator to access the station and tracks. The panoramic background was metal behind glass?????
