Schruns, Austria to Lucerne, Switzerland
Schruns is a small town in Vorarlberg, the westernmost state in Austria, located in the picturesque Montafon Valley. From Schruns we traveled by train through Liechtenstein (62 square miles total area) to Lucerne. Lucerne, located on Lake Lucerne, is the most populous city in central Switzerland. It's known for the medieval architecture.

Linda met Lila (representing the Milka brand of chocolate). It's very good!

There are 10 villages in the Montafon Valley, connected by roads and walking trails. The roads away from the river are steep, narrow and winding. The weather wasn't the best but we enjoyed walking.

There are a lot of logging yards in Austria. We were fascinated by how many logs they fed the wood chipper! That whole pile disappeared fast.

The rain brought out the wildlife!

The Chapel Bridge, constructed in 1332, was part of the city fortifications. The water tower was used as an archive, treasury, prison and torture chamber. It's located on the Reuss River, the outflow of Lake Lucerne.

This Jesuit Church, established in 1666, was the first baroque building of a religious nature to be constructed in Switzerland. Beautiful!

The Musegg Wall has 9 towers forming part of Lucerne's historic fortifications. This is from the top of the first tower looking out towards Lake Lucerne.

The spiral steps to the tower were narrow and steep!

At a restaurant folks were putting whatever they like in the pans & cooking it on the firepit. Look up European rösti recipes. Kind of like a breakfast scramble.
