We
drove along Highway 1, following the Fraser River upstream. The water
was high & overflowing the banks due the heavy snow melt upstream
in the mountains. |
Waiting for the pilot car, a common occurrence in northern climates when all roadwork is done in the summer. |
Stopped
in at Historic Hat Creek, site of a ranch & roadhouse along the
original Caribou Wagon Road. The busiest era was 1885-1905. There are
many buildings to explore, remaining as they were in 1901. This covered
wagon is a current accommodation. |

Looking
out the back door of Apache Creek friends home near 150 Mile House,
BC. We're told this will all be brown in a month, hard to imagine! |
Our
first stop in British Columbia after leaving Sumas, WA. Hope is the
Gateway to the interior of BC. |
The
sculptures in Hope Memorial Park are dedicated to many. |
|
We
are in Cache Creek BC about 170 miles north of the border. This Tesla
is charging in a parking lot with 6 Tesla Superchargers & 2 other
slow chargers for any electric vehicles. Fascinating conversation with
the owner. |
The
Hat Creek roadhouse provided entertainment for the guests. This is the
gentleman's lounge. Don't know what game this might be
|
39'
long cross country skis!! Located at 100 mile House visitor center. |
|
Chetwynd's
slogan is "Community Carved By Success ". We arrived during
the annual chainsaw carving championship. |
One
of the many carvings is this one of Lady Gaga. |
They
are very elaborate! There are about 150 carvings along Highway 97 thru
Chetwynd. |
