Mile
0 of the Alcan at Dawson Creek, BC. We have some sunshine. Note the
van is cleanish! |
Found
the carts hooked together in Ft St John. You insert a looney (Canadian
dollar coin) & they release. When you return them & reattach
the device, you get the looney back. Clever! |
Found
this "bush bike" at the Heritage Museum. Built in the 50s,
it was an early all terrain vehicle. |
|
Linda
found this guy in the Museum too! The ONLY way to visit a grizzly!! |
We
saw a variety of wildlife along the road, porcupines, caribou, stone
sheep, moose, bison, sandhill cranes and black bears. |
This
is the boardwalk back to Liard Hotsprings. The natural hot pools provide
travelers along the highway a spot to soak and relax in a natural setting
all year long. The vegetation is lush due to the thermal activity &
mosquitoes are fierce. Roxy's a happy camper with her headnet! |
|
The
Springs were beautiful! Boiling at the near end, cooling nicely as it
flowed to the outlet. There is cool water draining in from the edges
that keep mixing the pool so the temperature fluctuates. |
Enjoying
a soak ! |
This
board explains the origin of the sign post forest in Watson Lake, Yukon.
There are now over 75,000 signs & increasing. |
|
These
license plates & signs are from all over the world. |
There
are mileposts, or kilometer posts here in Canada, all along the highway.
We were quite surprised to see fresh snow along the roadside as we approached
Whitehorse! |
The
temperature kept dropping. The low was 37 degrees and raining
brrrr.
We're not in Arizona anymore! |
