Resurrection
Pass through the Chugach Range. It's a popular recreation area for hiking, snow
machining, cross country skiing and blueberry picking. |
Kachemak
Bay overlook near Homer. This is a view of the Kenai mtns. Redoubt,
Iliamna & Augustine (all are volcanoes) are visible from here. Too
far away to photograph. |
On
the Homer Spit beach along Kachemak Bay. The Spit is 4.5 miles long
& crazy busy this time of year. |
|
Homer
is known as the halibut capital of Alaska. All the fresh halibut is
being served for dinner, so this wooden one will have to do
|
We
went 170 miles back towards Anchorage & around to Seward (located
on Resurrection Bay). Fishing, glacier tours, whale watching & kayaking
are popular outings. |
Bottoms
up! We came across 2 adult swans & 4 hungry cygnets. |
|
The
Seward harbor is home to a local fishing fleet, charter fishing boats,
tour boats and the coast guard. |
Exit
Glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park, near Seward. The Harding Icefield
covers over half of the park with 38 glaciers flowing from the icefield.
Exit Glacier is the only part of the park reachable by road. A mile
1/2 hike took us to this viewpoint. |
Standing
along one of the many outflow streams from Exit Glacier. Every body
of water we've seen since entering Canada has been full to overflowing.
