This
is why we diverted to Whitehorse. We learned new skills. No cell coverage,
so no YouTube video!!? Fortunately we had the manual & had all the
pieces to change it. A few "words" were mumbled. The story
is too long for a text. |
Success!
Fortunately it wasn't raining!!! |
The
tire couldn't be fixed. The nearest town that might have a replacement
was 450 miles away in Whitehorse, Yukon! So we drove late into the night
& early morning. Beautiful sunset about 1 am & not much traffic! |
|
Tire
is replaced & we backtracked to Haines Junction. Now on the Haines
Hwy. Stopped to hike up about a mile to a rock glacier. |
A
mama black bear & cubs were playing across the road. We won't have
see these if we hadn't made a side trip to Whitehorse. |
The
trail started on boardwalks through marshy ground and then over rocks
left behind as the ice core below melted. |
|
Nice
boardwalk along the falls! |
The
fireweed is blooming! Tatshenshini Mountains in the distance. |
The
Million Dollar Falls. A short walk to an overlook along the Takhanne
River. |
|
We
left Yukon & are now at Chuck Creek in British Columbia. Another
trail to a glacier. We walked above tree line to get this glorious view.
|
Lots
of wildflowers blooming. Most alpine vegetation grows close to the ground. |
We
love the mountains & alpine tundra! |
