July 10, 2022 ..... Back to the welcome page and listings for other links

July 10 - Haines, Alaska to Stewart, British Columbia.

Our email address is gusrox30@gmail.com. Feel free to drop a note and say hello anytime!

Haines is on the Lynn Canal. It's a small town with a small harbor.
---

Alaska only has 11 or 12 numbered roads. Alaska 7 is 40 miles from Haines to the BC Canadian border & 3 other segments about 40 miles each!

This is the Alaska ferry coming in from Juneau. We'll catch it to Skagway, Alaska.
---

They pack us in! The loadmasters do a great job of guiding all the vehicles.
---

We drove hwy 98 out of Seward, one of the few Alaska highways we hadn't driven. Goodbye Alaska, hello BC & the Yukon again.
---

At Watson Lake we turned south on the Cassiar Highway and stopped at Jade City. It's a very small place. Jade is mined near here and shipped around the world.
---

Fireweed along the estuary boardwalk in Stewart, BC.
---

It wasn't the best weather driving back to Stewart, but we did get some views of Bear glacier. We did see a few black bears, but no one stopped to pose for a pic!

Oceanview RV park in Haines. Parking places with water, sewer & electricity. We don't need any of that, but they had a great clubhouse with kitchen, bathrooms & showers. Nice!
---

A cemetery walking trail. Never seen this before, but was tastefully done & lots of folks buried here.
---

This Princess Tours cruise ship is docked in Skagway. It's 1 of 3 in dock. Skagway has about 1000 year round residents. These ships could have at least 5,000 passengers apiece. Kind of crazy in a very small town!!

In Stewart, BC. A very small community on the panhandle of Alaska. In fact, there is actually a Canadian border crossing to Hyder, Alaska from here. It goes nowhere, but to get back into Canada you have to still to ArrCan app & have a passport???
