Day 83 - Fryeburg, ME to Auburn, ME - 47 miles .............. 3877 total miles
Maine is not flat! We started riding at 7:30 to avoid some of the holiday traffic. Our route took us up and down hills thru forests and past lakes. We stopped for a break in Naples and chatted with Jennifer & Tom who are riding their motorcycles over to New Hampshire for the day. Nice folks! We deviated from the Adventure Cycling route because we learned of a bridge closure from Heidi and Jerry, whose blog we've been following. Though we haven't met, we feel like we know them. They've been a couple days ahead of us since the ferry across Lake Michigan. We enjoyed good weather again today. It rained as we were finishing dinner. Had an adult beverage waiting for the rain to stop before walking back to our motel. We finally have the Golf channel and are watching the LPGA tonight. Life is good!

Day 84 - Auburn, ME to Wiscasset, ME -
45 miles ............ 3922 total miles
Today was a day of rivers and hills. We followed the Androscoggin River to Brunswick where it entered Merrymeeting Bay. The humidity was high today. We had lunch in Brunswick at the Wild Oats Bakery where we sat next to Mikhail Baryshnikov, according to the woman at a nearby table. We didn't recognize him, but she said hello. She studied dance with him some years ago. We met cyclists Sharon and Kurt from Vermont at the bakery. Had a nice chat with them about our trip, riding in Vermont and restaurants up the road. After Bath we crossed the Kennebec River on a long high bridge. It started to rain several miles from our motel. The light sprinkle felt good, washed off some of the sweat. We missed a turn and ended up riding back a couple miles to the motel along busy highway 1. Found fish and chips for dinner just across the highway. Tonight we're staying just south of Wiscasset.
